The city of Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine, as stated in the Declaration of Independence (The National Council declares, in the name of God and the name of the Palestinian Arab people, the establishment of the State of Palestine on our Palestinian land, with Jerusalem as its capital).

The introduction to the amended Basic Law also stated (the establishment of the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, the first of the two Qiblas and the third of the two Holy Sanctuaries, the place of our Prophet Muhammad’s Night Journey (PBUH), and the birthplace of our Master Jesus, peace be upon him). In addition to what is stated in Article No. (3) of the Basic Law (Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine).
